SPAR Tirol
SPAR Austria is a 100 percent private Austrian family business. The shares in SPAR Austria are still held for the most part by those families who brought their businesses into the company when SPAR AG was founded. SPAR was founded in 1954 in Kufstein by Hans F. Reisch. Since then, SPAR Austria has grown from year to year – even beyond its borders, SPAR has been extremely successful in neighboring countries. With over 45,700 employees, SPAR is the largest private Austrian employer. The annual turnover of 7.20 billion Euros in 2019 represents a growth of 4.7% compared to the previous year.
In Tyrol, SPAR has 150 SPAR, SPAR express, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR locations, 80 of which are run by independent traders. SPAR is an important employer for Tyrol: SPAR employs a total of 3,900 people in the province, including 300 apprentices. In 2020, two new locations have been opened so far, creating 45 additional jobs. The infrastructure is ultra-modern. In 2018, for example, the TANN fresh meat production plant in Wörgl was expanded to become the most modern meat processing plant in Tyrol.
SPAR Tirol has been a SAFE SERVICE partner from the very beginning and is the first retail company to be part of the SAFE SERVICE initiative of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce.
“The food trade is SAFE SERVICE expert of the first hour: Our Tyrolean SPAR locations were also open during the lock-down and our employees are regularly well informed since March 2020 regarding safe handling of customer inquiries, mouth-nose mask, distances and disinfection. We are pleased that SAFE SERVICE is now in focus in Tyrol and are therefore happy to support this initiative.”
