About SAFE SERVICE

SAFE SERVICE is a safety and hygiene concept that prepares the Tourism Association Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee for the tourism year 2021.

SAFE SERVICE is based on digitalization and starts directly with the employees: They learn relevant safety content and official hygiene requirements directly on their smartphones on the SAFE SERVICE learning app. A major advantage of the initiative is that all SAFE SERVICE app users are immediately informed in real time via push messages about current innovations, e.g. updated legal requirements. At the same time, SAFE SERVICE thrives strongly on external communication and visibility.

In the Klagenfurt region, hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, cafés and leisure facilities are all pulling in the same direction. The Tourism Association Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee is the first area in Austria to have SAFE SERVICE certified in its entirety: From the start, 120 tourist businesses are involved.

Why SAFE SERVICE?

Tourism is experiencing challenging times. Here in Klagenfurt, it is the declared goal to offer guests a pleasant and safe vacation experience. This means that the employees in the businesses who have direct contact with the guests must be highly trained.

The Tourism Association Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee is therefore starting a certification for businesses with SAFE SERVICE: under the motto “For our guests. For us. For Klagenfurt.”, Managing Director Helmuth Micheler initiated the SAFE SERVICE initiative. SAFE SERVICE was launched in Tyrol in the fall of 2020, and the digitalization company duftner.digital in Innsbruck has supported the initiative from the beginning. In the previous year, more than 500 businesses and several thousand learners were trained in the neighboring state of Tyrol. Now the hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and leisure facilities in the Klagenfurt region have the opportunity to have their employees* trained on distance rules, hygiene, contactless customer experience & Co. Learning takes place digitally on a smartphone using the specially developed SAFE SERVICE learning app. As soon as a business has completed the training, it receives the official certificate issued by the Tourism Association Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee, which is clearly visible to guests.

Digital learning on the smartphone

The SAFE SERVICE learning app comes from the digitalization specialist duftner.digital from Innsbruck. Employees, who are registered by the companies with their e-mail address for logging in in accordance with data protection regulations, download the SAFE SERVICE app onto their smartphone and learn in morsels independent of time and place.

The learning content was adapted to current requirements together with the Tourism Association Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee. It can be continuously updated in accordance with the current legal framework and communicated to employees in real time using the push function. All information is prepared according to the most modern methodical-didactic aspects: The quiz-like flashcards are designed with images, videos and podcasts so that learning is intuitive.

Languages German, English, Hungarian & Slovakian

SAFE SERVICE starts from the inside, with the employees in the hotel, catering and leisure industry. To ensure that the learning content really gets across, the app is not only translated into German, but also into English, Hungarian and Slovakian. This is to ensure that seasonal employees who do not yet speak perfect German also learn in their native language and thus really engage with the content.

For the hotel, catering and leisure sectors, separate learning cards tailored to each industry have been developed. A training course consists of around 15 questions and can be divided into the following topics:

Staff hygiene
Non-contact customer experience
Situational behavioral measures
